From real days out

Made by someone who goes

Trust Explorer is an independent app by Graham Warwick. This watercolour of the garden lake at Stourhead, with its stone bridge and the Pantheon across the water, was redrawn from a photograph he took there.

It's the same lake the pilot audio tour walks you round, stop by stop.

What it does

Everything for a good day out, in your pocket

A single offline catalogue of more than 700 National Trust and National Trust for Scotland places, with the tools you actually use on the day.

Find places near you

Nearby lists every place within 50 miles, anywhere in the UK. Distances are straight-line, and location is used only on your iPhone.

Map and directions

Browse every place on one map with clustered pins, search by name, county or category (places, walks and coast), and open directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps.

Watercolour illustrations

Original watercolour and ink artwork for places in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire, each crediting the openly licensed photographs it was based on.

Your membership card

Photograph the barcode or QR code on your card and keep it with your name and number, ready to show full screen at the entrance. Saved privately on your iPhone.

Favourites and visits

Save places for later and mark the ones you've visited. The date is kept on your phone, so you can look back at where you've been.

Stourhead audio tour

A pilot audio tour around the lake at Stourhead: each stop plays as you reach it, from the Temple of Flora to the Temple of Apollo, or tap play to listen by hand.

Illustrated places

Drawn with care, place by place

Many places have their own watercolour and ink illustration, so the list feels like a sketchbook of your next trip.

Illustrations are artistic interpretations based on openly licensed photographs, and on Graham Warwick's own photographs where stated. Illustration credits

From the sofa to the car park

Whatever the season, a good visit starts before you leave home. Arlington Court on a winter afternoon, from another of Graham's photographs.

Privacy

Your day out stays on your phone

Trust Explorer does not collect, store or share your personal data on any server. Everything you save stays on your iPhone, and the developer cannot see it.

About

Questions

Is this the official National Trust app?

No. Trust Explorer is an independent app made by Graham Warwick in the United Kingdom. National Trust and National Trust for Scotland names are used only to identify places, and the app does not use their logos.

Which places are included?

More than 700 National Trust and National Trust for Scotland places across the UK, including houses, gardens, walks and coast. Opening times and facilities change, so always check the official website before you travel.

Will my membership card work at the gate?

The app shows the code you photographed, with adjustable sizes for scanners. Acceptance depends on the scanner, so please carry your physical card too.

Does it need a signal?

Not for browsing: the place list, guides, illustrations and audio tour text are built into the app. Map screens download tiles from Apple, and website links open in Safari.

When can I download it?

Trust Explorer is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. Questions or feedback in the meantime: trustexplorer@outlook.com.

Trust Explorer is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the National Trust or the National Trust for Scotland.
